These fascinating animals (Giraffa Camelopardalis) are often given little attention despite their fascinating profiles, as safari guests are so often in quest of the supposed “Big Five”.
The world’s tallest animal has many little known physiological attributes from having the largest heart of any land mammal to unique blood vessels in their legs that has inspired NASA in space suit design.
There are between sixty to eighty thousand of these grand animals left in Africa and though not yet classified endangered, the population is in decline due to habitat loss.
Those seen above are classified as a sub species “Giraffa” or South African Giraffe of which only about 12,000 exist…
