Spectacular Sighting

May 17, 2016

African Rock Python (Python Sebae natalensis).

Last week our guests were surprised by the above wildlife sighting. This is Africa’s largest snake and can attain a length of 6 meters(20ft) and weigh up to 60kg.
Although feared by many, this animal is not a threat to adult human beings with encounters extremely rare.
It is a constrictor, egg layer and unlike most other snakes will protect its nest and sometimes it’s hatchlings.
The above specimen had begun the process of devouring this young Impala and although this is not as appealing as a cute lion cub or a herd of elephants, this is nature and its wild out there!
